Adoption Overview $600

Dandy

Sweet Dandy came to Longmeadow malnourished and severely underweight. It took her a long time to learn that she could trust our groundwork team and staff. She did not have much experience with being handled and dreaded farrier days. After lots of patience and work, Dandy started to turn around. During her rehabilitation process and with every pound she gained, she would gain a little bit of confidence as well. Although she is still working on her groundwork skills, Dandy is now healthy and continuing to gain that confidence we know is within her.

During her sessions with our trainer, Dandy was kind and inquisitive. She would look towards her handlers for confidence and was a quick learner when focused. Although she has come a long way since her arrival at Longmeadow, Dandy is still new to the world of humans and handling and will require an advanced handler and (hopefully eventually) an advanced rider after professional training.

Dandy’s coat is beautiful and her color shines. She has a sweet face and, with some patience and work, a sweet personality to match. Dandy would do best with an adopter looking for a horse for a lower impact career, as her confirmation wouldn’t make her a star barrel horse or jumper. Dandy has lots of potential and will require someone with the patience and time to work with her and make her the best horse she can be.

Maximum Carrying Weight (includes tack and rider): 175 lbs
