Adoption Overview $850

Ahandfulofcandy

4 year old thoroughbred gelding bred in KY
Candy Ride (ARG) (Ride The Rails) out of Ekati's Phaeton by Tale Of Ekati
Eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project's
THOROUGHBRED MAKEOVER COMPETITION!

16 hands. He last worked on 11/20/24 and retired with a tear in his right front suspensory ligament 11/2024.

He has been on small pasture turnout and is now ready for full paddock. He is now able to start slowly back under saddle at a walk and slow trot. Increase this gradually over the next few weeks and by summer, he will be ready for the canter.

Candy was castrated on 2/6/25.

Candy is settling into retirement well and learning to settle. He is quiet in his stall and doesn’t bother his neighbors. He can be pushy on the ground so will need an adopter who can patiently and properly help him learn proper manners. He is kind, he just needs guidance in this area.

He stood well for the vet and farrier.

Candy should be suitable for any flat discipline later this summer. For a more athletic career, a PPE is highly recommended.
