Adoption Overview $900

Rooster

Rooster came to Longmeadow after his owner passed away and family members could no longer care for him. His previous owner surrendered him at the end of 2023 and Rooster took some time settling into life at the Ranch. We knew he had a history of training under saddle but were unsure of how much he knew. After his routine quarantine ended, our trainer started evaluating the handsome man to see what he could offer.

Straight out of the gate, Rooster had personality and a cute face to go with it. He was not afraid to tell us how he felt whether it was on the ground or under saddle. He enjoys time with his equine friends and isn’t fond of the “slow life.” Rooster has more "go" than “whoa” and doesn’t mind taking the occasional speed walk with his handlers while being led. Because of this, we think he would do best with a solid confident, intermediate rider to help him work on his manners.

But don’t let this sway your opinion of this beautiful 14.2HH 22-year-old gelding. Rooster has tons of potential and would flourish with the right person. He is working on his neck reining and patience and enjoys the attention and company of both humans and equine alike. He is easy to catch in the paddock and gets along with others. He has a comfortable gait while being ridden properly and has a beautiful, dark coat that catches the eyes of many! We were told that he foundered at some point in his past, but he was fully recovered when he arrived to Longmeadow, so his adopter will need to watch his weight and diet. Rooster has been ridden in our indoor arena, on trails and around the ranch property.

Maximum Carrying Weight (includes tack and rider): 200 lbs
