Tango
Tango is a 15 year old BLM Mustang who was rounded up in California when he was just a foal. He had a really rough first two years of his life which included serious abuse at the hand of his first owner, then several subsequent moves between horse rescue organizations. He was adopted by a lady in Lubbock who took care of him for several years before she had to move out of town and couldn’t take him with her. She put him in training for many months with a skilled horseman, but the trainer told her that he was too unpredictable and dangerous under saddle and to plan on not riding him. He came to live at Easy R in the spring of 2013. He has been used as a program horse, teaching kids (and adults) about how to handle trust issues, consistent communication skills, and how to read body language.
In a nutshell, Tango is an endearing, but challenging horse. Despite being around people every day, he has held tightly to his flight instincts when he is scared, nervous, or suspicious. Once he gets to know you and extends a little bit of trust, he really does have a cute and endearing personality.
There is so much information to provide about this horse. His placement might be challenging because he MUST have an owner who is highly skilled in working with horses. We have learned all his eccentricities and behaviors because he has been with Easy R since 2013. So, a phone call with an interested potential adopter is highly suggested.
