Adoption Overview $800

Rigel

Rigel's mother Sky was collected while pregnant as a free-roaming horse in December of 2023. Rigel was born at KHS on May 11, 2024. Rigel is assumed to be a Kentucky Mountain horse cross and will likely be gaited as an adult horse under saddle one day. He is a strong, healthy colt with a kind eye and is expected to mature between 14 and 15 hands or so tall. He is curious and willingly approaches people for a scratch in the pasture.

Rigel is the most friendly baby we had on our farm last year.  He is a very approachable and calm guy with a very laid back attitude.  Usually you don't have to catch Rigel, he will catch you first. He is good for the farrier and vet, and leads, loads, ties, etc.  We generally only adopt out young horses to adopters with training experience OR someone willing to work closely with a trainer as needed to be sure his behavior stays on track to become a good equine citizen as an adult.
