Julyus

Julyus is a 13 year old registered Arabian gelding. Julyus and his cousin Markette came together to Easy R in the spring of 2011 when their owner had to suddenly move off her horse property. Within 6 months of joining the Easy R herd, Julyus started showing neurological signs such as stumbling, dragging his back feet, not accurately judging his distance to things/people ,and difficulty backing up. X-rays confirmed a diagnosis of Wobblers Syndrome, which is a misalignment of vertebrae in the upper neck, affecting the nerves and communication to parts of the body. Due to his diagnosis, Julyus can never be ridden. He hasn’t shown signs of deterioration, but he still shows signs of the neurological impairment. Julyus is, quite frankly, hilarious. He is curious, engaging, lovable, and even pesky. He is good about most everything. With the exception of trailer loading. At the time Julyus came to Easy R and for several years after that, we had groups of kids come for enrichment and recreational activities. He was always a crowd favorite because of his endearing personality. Even after we discontinued these groups, Julyus retained his "mascot" status for Easy R. His adopter would be knowledgeable of Wobblers, and appreciate his uniqueness. He will only ever be someone’s very sweet and lovable pasture pet.
