TRAINING:

Data has such an outstanding attitude and is always looking to learn through his natural curiosity and is so much fun to work with. He is one that will trust after being shown a task and once he grasps that task, it becomes a normal day for him. When he trusts and learns the task, he will walk through any pool noddles or river you show him. His trainer is looking forward to spending the rest of the summer working with him in growing Data's confidence and continuing to prepare for the ATFO event!

At this point Data can:
✨Load and trailer
✨Stand tied
✨ Walk under saddle pad
✨ Ground tie (at least until the curiosity of baby brain hits)
✨ Confidently go through most obstacles
✨Carry a tarp
✨Cross water
✨Work alone or around other horses
✨Accept most grooming and having feet handled

We are still working on his fear of the fly spray bottle and his lazy pace when it comes to working!
This little man will make someone a good trail horse one day. He wants to learn and wants to be loved on constantly. He is good with the other horses on our farm and enjoys his snack times patiently now. He is still looking for that forever home that can help him grow and learn.

This horse is part of a special training event called the Appalachian Trainer Face Off. You can learn about it on Facebook and on our website. Horses in this training event are adoptable following 100+ days of training in August.

Adoption fees may be outdated, as a horse may have moved into training, so check us on most current fee. Horses typically adopted UTD on vaccines, dental floats, farrier care and all vet needs.

Horse Locations Typically: West Virginia – Kentucky – Virginia – Ohio – Maryland – PA – NC

Please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply!

We are looking to adopt to safe homes.

A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons.

Foal adoptions require previous, established experience with youngsters.

Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no fail process for finding the right match. Apply at https://www.wvhorserescue.org/adopt
