Adoption Overview $1,500

Leeta

Leeta is a darling yearling filly QH X TWH cross.

She should mature at about 15hh or more.

Currently in training: Caity Sammons in Olive Hill, Ky at Honey Horsemanship with Leeta. Read trainer comments below!

FEE: SET BY TRAINER, Listed fee may not be current

Adoption fees may be outdated, as a horse may have moved into training, so check us on most current fee. Horses typically adopted UTD on vaccines, dental floats, farrier care and all vet needs.

Horse Locations Typically in Appalachia, but please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply!

We are looking to adopt to safe homes.

A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons.

Foal adoptions require previous, established experience with youngsters.

Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no fail process for finding the right match. Apply at https://wvhorserescue.org/adopt

July trainer comments:

I want to start out by bragging on this, not so little anymore, filly. Leeta came to me very unsure of herself and her surroundings. She had a strong flight response that pulled me into the mud more times than I can count, and even broke my finger on the first day she was here. 😂 I noticed early on she has a very curious outlook. She just needed the confidence for the curiosity to overcome the fear.
Leeta will:
- stand to be bathed
- stand for fly spray
- stand tied
- stand patiently for grain (she is fed last at my barn)
- stalls quietly
- go over tarps
- go over water
- wear a fly sheet/fly mask
- lead
- lunge
- wear a bare back pad
- wear a surcingle
- walk, trot, back and stand square
- pick up all four legs
Things we are working on still:
- being caught (Usually Leeta will come up to you in the pasture, except on the days she doesn’t want to. Which is more rare now.)
- standing for the farrier (This is something I have really worked on. Leeta did NOT appreciate her lower legs/hooves touched when she arrived. We had a lot of improvement on this farrier visit.)
Anyone would be happy to have this filly in their herd. If you’re wanting a horse that will follow you anywhere and be willing to try anything, this girl is for you. Just make sure your wear a cowboy hat from time to time, because she REALLY loves those! 💖
